In light of this census year, the 6th grade with the assistance of Mr. Narbe and Ms. Beverly  designed a census form to collect specific data which is relevant to the Hollywood Schoolhouse population.  All members of the school community  were encouraged to participate.  Close to 200 households and almost 700 individuals are included in our census count.  The 6th grade students under the  supervision of Mr. Narbe calculated and analyzed the results as part of their end of the year math project.  Their work on the project was a culmination of the math concepts  acquired during the year.  To complete the project they needed to compute the data, find percentages and translate percentages into degrees as they created graphs.  This real-life application of mathematical concepts  involved using high level critical thinking skills. Collecting and analyzing data is a key math standard seen throughout the grade levels. Students practiced mastery of that standard as they examined the results they computed for accuracy and relevance.  The census results confirm our diversity to both ourselves and the community at large.
